Towards precision dermatology<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Skin Atlas project commenced in 2016 and the first publication, published together with all data, came four year later (https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41467-020-19383-8<\/a>).   <\/p>\n

With the publication of the Skin Atlas we created the deepest proteome of healthy human skin and skin-associated immune cells to date – identifying almost 11 000 proteins.
\nToday, our work centers on the use of the constantly evolving mass spectrometry based proteomics for skin diseases and the Skin Disease Atlas.<\/p>\n

We bring the clinical observations and collected samples to the lab and ask questions such as: Why do the same diseases present differently in patients? What is the proteomic profile and which molecular pathways are affected? Are there new ways to target the diseases?<\/p>\n

In time, our goal is to contribute to a deeper understanding of skin biology and skin diseases, and ultimately, to substantial benefits for patients with skin diseases. To reach the goal, all data are made freely available. We strive to make them easily accessible in different formats.<\/p>\n

In 2022, we launched introductory articles on different themes. So far, we have published short articles on skin-derived cells and prevalent skin diseases. The project is coordinated by Anna Olsson, MD PhD, and the articles are based on the voluntary efforts by our colleagues world-wide.  <\/p>\n
